Helping our communities
Service has alwaysbeen a core principleof Freemasonry
A Legacy of Helping Those in Need
Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry.
Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing more than £51.7m to deserving causes in 2023. Freemasons do not only donate money – more than 18.5 million hours of volunteer work are undertaken by Freemasons every year.
Building better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education, and promoting independence. Through our grants to local and national charities, Freemasons are helping to tackle some of the most important issues facing society, helping thousands of people in local communities to live happy, fulfilling lives and participate more actively in society.

Cheshire Freemasons Donate £5,000 to Cheshire Without Abuse
Based in Crewe, Cheshire Without Abuse (MyCWA) helps victims of domestic abuse across Cheshire escape and break the cycle of violence. The charity provides a whole-family service, offering support to both adults and children impacted by domestic abuse, along with behaviour interventions for those who harm.
“The work the Charity does is nothing short of remarkable” said Senior Cheshire Freemason Chris Renshaw who presented a £5,000 donation on behalf of local members, to support MyCWA with their work. Chris continued, “It was humbling to both see and hear from the workers and volunteers just how they will ensure the donation positively impacts domestic abuse survivors and their families, helping them to continue to provide essential resources and support during challenging times.”
