Senior Cheshire Freemasons with the new banner

On the 12th June 2025, a team of Cheshire Freemasons ventured down to London for a very special event being performed by them to celebrate the Province’s tercentenary…

Cheshire’s Masters & Masons Forum (the MMF – the Provincial light blue club), led by Chairman Martin Geer, had an idea! It was some two years ago that the idea of performing a double initiation first came about – but this wasn’t to be an ordinary double initiation – this was to be done as it was in 1759!

A team was brought together and a script developed, with rehearsals starting 15 months before the event – a testament to the huge amount of commitment, dedication and hard work that everyone involved put in to the event.

Stanlow Lodge 6257 would host the MMF in Temple 10 at Freemasons Hall in London, with the venue packed full of 200 members from Cheshire and beyond to support this wonderful event, and the two candidates.

It was also an honour for the MMF, Stanlow Lodge, and everyone from Cheshire to be joined in the celebrations by the Pro Grand Master Jonathan Spence – the second time in a week – after his visit to Chester on 7th June for the official Provincial celebratory day at Chester Cathedral and Town Hall.

The 1759 team put on a spectacular display with an engaging and very humorous performance, that was also sincere and solemn when needed during the initiation of the two candidates – Conner Ross  and Daniel Kellett.

Following the meeting, everyone present on the day moved on to the festive board, held in Freemasons Hall itself, and were treated to rousing speeches given by the Pro Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Master of Cheshire, David Dyson, who both thanked and congratulated the 1759 team on a successful performance, and thanked everyone for attending and supporting each other in the masonic spirit of brotherhood.

The 1759 team even stayed in costume to dine!

Congratulations to the Province of Cheshire on what has been a spectacular week of celebration.
