Cheshire Freemasons Donate Over £1,000 to West Wirral Boys Club for Youth Development Programme

West Wirral Boys Club, a vital community hub based in Moreton and affiliated with Clubs for Young People and the Amateur Boxing Association of England, has received a significant boost from Cheshire Freemasons. On Tuesday, June 10, members of Marlowe Lodge, Hoose Lodge, and Minerva Chapter presented a donation totalling £1,050 to support the club’s annual “dream weekend” programme.

The West Wirral Boys Club provides a crucial venue where young people, often from underprivileged backgrounds, can meet in a friendly environment. Beyond fostering camaraderie, the club instils discipline and mutual respect. While actively pursuing the sport of boxing, youngsters are also strongly encouraged to maintain fitness and adopt healthy lifestyles, offering a positive alternative to less constructive activities.

For the past two years, the club has successfully run a “team building and activities weekend” programme, providing memorable experiences for 20 youngsters in its first year and 25 in its second. The club hopes to continue this impactful initiative annually.

The recent donation, coordinated by Dave Perkins of Marlowe Lodge, saw each participating Lodge and Chapter contribute £280. This sum was significantly enhanced by additional funding of £70 from the Cheshire Freemasons Charity for each lodge donation, bringing the grand total to a magnificent £1,050. This generous contribution will enable even more young people to participate in this year’s highly anticipated “dream weekend,” expanding the marvellous opportunity for personal growth and enjoyment.
